最近読んでいる本にこんなことが書いてありました。

最近ハマってる漫画に『僕のヒーローアカデミア』
という漫画があります。
この漫画、セルフイメージの重要さが
かなり分かるので軽く紹介しますね。
ものすごーくザックリどんな漫画か説明すると、
”個性”と呼ばれる超能力みたいなものが
人口の８割くらいの人に開花するようになった世界で、
それを悪用して悪さする人達が増えたんです。
その影響で、「ヒーロー」と呼ばれる職業が
脚光を浴びるようになり、そんなヒーローに
憧れた主人公が最高のヒーローを目指す物語。
って感じの漫画です。
そこに出てくる主人公の緑谷出久（いずく）は、
小さい頃からずっとヒーローに憧れてたのに、
なんと稀に見る「無個性」だったんですね。
つまり、何の能力もないただの一般人。
でも、学校のクラスのみんなは
何かしらの個性が開花していたのです。
そんな境遇で、しかもいつもビクビクしてるような
弱々しい性格もあってか、みんなに馬鹿にされます。
特に、ガキ大将であり、
掌から爆発を起こせるという強い個性の
爆豪という幼なじみには、いじめられまくります。
こいつがまたすーーっごい嫌なヤツで！
ヒーローオタクだった主人公がせっせと
プロヒーローの特徴をまとめていたノートを
爆発させて燃やして捨てたり。
無個性の主人公に
「来世は個性が宿ると信じて飛び降りれば？」
とか平気で言ったり、口を開ければ
いつも怒鳴っていて「ぶっ殺すぞ」が口癖。
１巻だけ読んだら間違いなく嫌いになる
すっごく嫌なキャラなんですね。苦笑
（でも最新の１４巻では人気投票１位になってます！）
そんなヤンキー爆豪にいつもビクビクしていて、
どんだけ馬鹿にされても強く言い返せなかった
主人公なんですが、そんな主人公にはアダ名があります。
名前の出久が「デク」とも読めることから、
木偶（でく）の坊のデク、出来損ないのデク、
そういう馬鹿にした意味を込めて
爆豪がデクと呼ぶようになったんです。
この時点で、デクのセルフイメージは
めちゃくちゃ低いわけですね。
ですが、とある事件で、
デクがヒーローに憧れたキッカケである
「オールマイト」っていうプロヒーローの中でも
最強で最高のヒーローに会うことになります。
その事件で、デクは無個性で小心者にも拘わらず、
「助けたい！」というただ一心で
爆豪を人質にして暴れていた敵に向かって
勇気を出して突っ込んでいったのです。
オールマイトは、その事件の前のやり取りで
デクが無個性ってことを知ってたのもあり、
その勇気ある行動に心を打たれました。
そして、デクにこう言ったのです。

「君は、あの場で誰よりもヒーローだった」
「君は、ヒーローになれる」

これが、デクのセルフイメージが変わった瞬間。
それまでずっと、無個性で弱虫で
「お前なんかヒーローになれねえよ」
「いい加減、現実見ろよ」と言われ続けてきたので、
憧れはあっても、自分でヒーローになれるとは
本気で思い込めていませんでした。
でも、憧れのヒーローから
「君はヒーローになれる」と言ってもらえたことで、
デクのセルフイメージが一気に変わったのです。
その後、今まで言い返せずに
やられっぱなしだった爆豪に対して、
はじめて反抗するシーンが出てきます。
ここから一気に成長していくわけですが、
高校生になってからもう一度セルフイメージが変わる瞬間があります。
それが、この漫画のヒロイン的なキャラからの
こんな一言。

「デク」ってあだ名、
「頑張れ！！」って感じで
なんか好きだな私♪

だいぶふわっとしてるんですが（笑）、
少なくとも前の「出来損ないのデク」
という意味よりは前向きな意味ですよね。
ここでは、自分の名前に対するイメージが
ガラッと変わったんです。
この２回のセルフイメージチェンジが、
漫画の序盤で起こってます。
どうしてこれらのシーンがあったのか？
きっとこれから、弱虫だった主人公が
最高のヒーローになっていくために
避けて通れないキッカケだからだと思います。
自分を理想の姿にするためには、
まずはセルフイメージから変えていこう！
努力が真価を発揮するのはそれからだ！
そんなメッセージのように僕は感じました。
これ、超重要ですよ！
ほとんどの人は、なにか根拠ができてから
セルフイメージが形成されるもんだと思ってます。

でも、実は逆なんです。
セルフイメージに合うような根拠が出てくるのです。
