今回は、「謙虚」の誤解について話そうと思います。
「謙虚な人」って言葉を聞いて、

ある一面では自分の方が優れてても
他の面では周りの方が優れてるから、
優劣なんて絶対的なものではない

「優劣」というのは、
なにかルールを決めたときに
はじめて生まれる概念です。
たとえば、
「テストでより高い点数を取りましょう」
というルールを決めたとき、
優の人、劣の人が出てくるわけです。
そのルールがなければ、
誰が優れていて誰が劣っているのかなんて
どうやっても決められません。
優劣に絶対的なものなんてないんですね。
だからこそ、
偉そうにするのは思慮が浅いし、
かといって腰を低くしなくてもいいのです。
腰を低くしすぎて、
「すいません」や「とんでもないです」
が口グセになってる人がたまにいますが、
それもそれで問題です。
むしろ、偉そうな人と違って他の人に
不快な思いをさせるわけじゃないので
周りもあまり強く言えない分、
むしろ厄介かもしれません。
「自分を過大評価しましょう」
とは言いませんが、
あまりにも過小評価してしまうと
どんどん自分のセルフイメージが下がって
自信がなくなってしまいますから。
自分の優れたところを評価されたら
素直に「ありがとうございます」でいいのです。
そのうえで、世界の広さを知って
優劣の本質を知って、ふんぞり返るでも
腰を低くするのでもない、
ただただ真っ直ぐに自然体で立つ。
それが、謙虚な姿勢。
