成長は階段状に少しずつ伸びるんじゃなくて、
「ワープ」するように急に伸びる。
今回は、そんな話をしようと思います。
最近、『新・のび太の日本誕生』という
ドラえもんの映画の影響でいろんなところで
コラボ商品が発売されてたりしますが、
まさにドラえもんの「どこでもドア」みたいなイメージです。
これは僕の実体験からの感覚なんですが、
成長の初期段階はものすごーく緩やかな上り坂です。
ですが、
「これ本当に上達してるのかな？」
と疑うくらい緩やかな上り坂をずっと進んだ先に、
突然、「どこでもドア」が現れます。
そして、その「どこでもドア」に入ると、
気が付けば富士山の頂上までワープしてるのです。
僕は、これを体験したのが人生で２回あります。
（覚えている限りで）
１つは、部活でやっていたバスケ。
まったく届かなかった３Ｐシュート、
届いても、ただの力任せで安定しない３Ｐシュート。
今でもハッキリ覚えてますが、
そんな３Ｐシュートが、ある日突然、
力を使わなくても届くようになり、
さらに安定して入るようになったのです。
少しずつ成功率が上がった、ではなく、
急にギュンッ↑と成功率が上がりました。
あと、今こうして文章を書いてますが、
最初はまったく書けませんでした。
５００文字書くのでも精一杯で、
内容も薄紙のようにペラペラ。
そのくせに、１時間以上かけていたのです。
そんな状態がしばらく続いたんですが、
これまたある日突然、それまでが嘘のように
スラスラ文章が書けるようになったのです。
内容の質も、
書いてる本人ですら分かるくらい上がりました。
その感覚は、どう考えても
階段状に少しずつ成長した。
ではありません。
「ワープ」の方が、しっくりくるのです。

何かを「できない→できる」にするには、
ワープの瞬間まで続けなければいけません。

でも、ワープ前までは、
疑いたくなるほどに緩やかな上り坂。
その段階で「結果」に重きを置いてると、
それは「暗黒時代」という呼称がふさわしいと思います。
結果が出ないわけじゃないんですが、
あまり伸びません。
僕の感覚では、それくらい緩やかです。
でも、そんな暗黒時代を進んでいくと、
急に目の前に「どこでもドア」が現れて、
一気に頂上まで連れていってくれます。
なので、大切なのは、
「いかに暗黒時代を乗り切れるか？」
挫折してしまう人は、
ほぼ例外なく「結果」を重視し過ぎる傾向にあります。
そうなると、暗黒時代の
あまりの成長のゆっくりさに耐えられないのです。
暗黒時代を乗り切るための知恵は１つ。
結果以外に「楽しさ」を見つけること。

それしかないよなーと思います。
結局、楽しくないと、報われない時期の
あまりの報われなさに心が骨折してしまいます。
器用か不器用か、というよりは、
「楽しさを見つけられる子供心」

これが大切なんだと思います。
